Clinics!

Yes! The days of exciting and fun-filled Sunday afternoons are finally upon us again! As previously detailed in our FAQ, our Winter League 2008/2009 program will start off with a series of Beginners Clinics. To recap, here is the relevant information in the FAQ that some of you may have missed out on:

Q) What are the clinics for?
A) The clinics are for
1) People who are playing the game of Ultimate for the first time
2) People who are curious to try the “organized” form of Ultimate
3) People who are still very new/blur to the game and would like to improve their skills/game awareness
to understand and learn more about the game in a relaxed setting.

Q) What are the important dates?
A) Keep 2 and 9 Nov free! They're both Sunday aftenoons.

Q) Where will the clinics be held?
A) Seng Kang. Directions can be found here.

Q) What time will clinics start/end each week?
A) Clinics will start at around 1400hrs. They are slated to end at 1700hrs, although of course you are under no obligation to stay the whole course if you have other matters to see to. For the hardcore attendees, we will have pickups (it’s basically just an excuse to play more games) from 1700hrs till sunset.


Now, the REALLY IMPORTANT questions:

Q) Is it free?
A) YES!

Q) Can/Should I bring my friends down, even if they’ve never thrown anything in their lives?
A) YES!

Q) What should I bring?

A) Water, one dark and one white top, cleats, and a ready-to-have-fun attitude!

Q) What can I expect to see/learn/experience in the clinics?
A) You can expect, in the clinics, to
1) Learn to throw (backhand, forehand…), run (cutting…), and catch (pancake…)
2) Apply what you have learned in the form of fun games, and learn basic rules and strategies at the same time (vertical stack, horizontal stack, disc space, stall count…)
3) Experience first-hand the friendly, helpful, outgoing and sociable nature of Singapore’s Ultimate community!

Q) Sounds exciting! Do I need to register? Do I need to be a league registrant to be able to take part?
A) NO NEED! In fact, if you are not sure about registering for this league, all the more you should come down and try out the sport!

Q) What if I want to coach/help out in the clinics?
A) Just drop an email to wl0809@gmail.com with your name, date(s) you’ll be free, and we’ll furnish you with more details (role, content for the day) in time to come!
